Cookie Notice

The short version: nothing that tracks you runs on this site unless you say yes. We would like to use Google Analytics to see which pages help people — if you decline, it is never loaded at all. No advertising, no profiling, and nothing sold to anyone.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website can store in your browser. Some are essential for a site to work — for example, to remember that someone has signed in. Others measure how a site is used, or follow people between sites to advertise to them. We use the first kind, plus one analytics tool that you have to agree to. We use nothing from the third.

2. Your choice, and how it works

The first time you visit, a small banner asks whether you are happy for us to use analytics cookies. Accept and Decline sit side by side, are the same size, and both take one click. Until you choose:

  • No analytics cookies are set.
  • No analytics script is loaded. The Google Analytics code is not downloaded, not run, and never contacted — your browser makes no request to Google at all. This is stronger than the common approach of loading the tracker in a "denied" mode.
  • You can carry on reading, send an enquiry or book a discovery call without answering. The banner never blocks the page.

If you decline, nothing analytic loads then or later. If you accept, the cookies in the table below are set and we start receiving anonymous usage statistics.

3. Changing your mind

You can change your answer at any time: choose "Cookie preferences" in the footer of any page and the banner comes back with both options. Changing your mind is exactly as easy as making the choice was in the first place — that is a legal requirement, and a fair one.

If you switch from accept to decline, we immediately stop sending anything and expire the analytics cookies listed below, so the identifier they held is discarded rather than merely ignored.

4. Strictly necessary cookies

There is exactly one, and it is set only when Stephanie signs in to the practice administration area. It cannot be switched off, and it does not need your consent because the sign-in cannot work without it:

CookiePurposeTypeExpiry
__sessionKeeps Stephanie securely signed in to the admin area (bookings, enquiries, content). Without it she would be signed out on every page.Strictly necessary. Set by us (first-party), httpOnly and secure.Up to 14 days, or until sign-out.

If you are here to read about nutrition, send an enquiry or book a discovery call, you will never be given this cookie: there are no visitor accounts on this site, so there is nothing to keep you signed in to.

It is httpOnly, which means JavaScript cannot read it — it is only ever sent back to our server to verify the session. It contains no advertising or tracking identifiers.

5. Analytics cookies — only if you accept

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful, how people find us, and how many visitors go on to book a discovery call. If — and only if — you accept, it sets these cookies in your browser:

CookiePurposeTypeExpiry
_gaTells returning visits apart from new ones by storing a random identifier. It says nothing about who you are.Analytics. First-party cookie set by Google Analytics.Up to 2 years.
_ga_XXXXXXXXXXThe same thing for this specific site (the suffix is our own property identifier); it keeps the state of your visit.Analytics. First-party cookie set by Google Analytics.Up to 2 years.

What we ask Google Analytics to record is deliberately small:

  • The pages you view, roughly where in the world you are (country/region level), and general device and browser information.
  • A handful of named actions, so we can see whether the site works: clicking a "book a discovery call" button, reaching and completing the booking form, downloading a fact sheet, and opening a quiz.
  • Never your personal details. Your name, email address, phone number, the message you write and the time of your appointment are never sent to Google — not in an event, not in a page address. The booking events carry no details at all: they say "someone got this far", nothing more.
  • Advertising features are switched off in our configuration, so your visit is not used to build advertising audiences or to remarket to you.

Google acts as our processor for this and is based in the United States; the same safeguards described in section 6 of our Privacy Policy apply. You can also opt out of Google Analytics across every site with Google's own browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. What we don't use

  • No advertising or marketing cookies, and no ad networks.
  • No social-media buttons, embedded trackers or cross-site tracking pixels.
  • No profiling, no automated decision-making, and nothing sold or shared with data brokers.
  • No cookies from any other third party. Analytics is the only non-essential technology on the site, and it is the only thing the banner asks about.

7. How we remember your choice

We store your answer in your browser's local storage (a small record saying "accepted" or "declined", with the date and a version number) rather than in a cookie. It is never sent to our servers and is not used to identify you — it exists purely so we do not ask you the same question on every page.

Two consequences worth knowing: the choice applies to this browser on this device, and if you clear your browsing data we will have forgotten it and will ask again. If we ever materially change what analytics does, we bump that version number and ask everyone again.

8. Managing cookies in your browser

As well as the banner, you can view, block or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings — every major browser lets you do this. Blocking cookies will not affect anything you can do on this site as a visitor.

9. Changes to this notice

If we introduce any new cookie beyond those above, we will update this notice and put the choice in front of you first — non-essential cookies are never set before you agree. The date at the top shows when this notice was last updated.
